ROZ SAVAGE MP: CHANCELLOR MUST GIVE BUDGET THAT DELIVERS REAL CHANGE FOR THE SOUTH COTSWOLDS
Ahead of the Budget, local Liberal Democrat MP Dr Roz Savage has said that the Chancellor “must deliver real change” in the South Cotswolds including reversing the Family Farm Tax, cutting VAT for the hospitality industry down to 15% to save our high street, and funding it through targeted taxes on big banks, online gambling companies and tech giants.
Roz and the Liberal Democrats say this Budget must be a turning point, delivering real economic growth, tackling the cost of living, saving our high streets and properly funding the NHS, schools and local councils, instead of leaving communities struggling with overstretched public services and rising costs.
Roz added:
“It is vital that the Family Farm Tax is abolished. If it is kept, it will clearly show that the Government does not understand rural communities at all, and it would be a devastating blow to family farms.”
Roz, Liberal Democrat MP for the South Cotswolds, said:
“I want to see a Budget that genuinely backs communities like ours in the South Cotswolds. Cutting VAT for hospitality would give our high streets a desperately-needed boost, reversing the Family Farm Tax would help our farmers face the future with less uncertainty, and scrapping the two child benefit cap would lift thousands of children out of poverty, something I have pushed for consistently since I was elected.”
Roz added:
“We can pay for this by asking big banks, tech giants and online gambling companies to pay their fair share. I will be watching the Chancellor’s statement closely. The country deserves a Budget that recognises our struggles, reflects our values, and invests in our future.
“The Conservatives left behind a damaged economy, but the Chancellor has repeatedly made the wrong choices. We need real change in the South Cotswolds that tackles the cost of living, drives growth and makes big banks, tech giants and large online gambling companies pay their fair share, instead of punishing local businesses, hardworking families and farmers.”
