Malmesbury Teenager Recognised in Parliament for Outstanding Community Service

Malmesbury resident Ben Thornbury visited Westminster last week to receive formal recognition from local MP Roz Savage for his exceptional commitment to the community.
On Wednesday 23rd April, Roz Savage presented to Ben an Early Day Motion to Parliament in honour of his achievements. A student at Cirencester College, Ben recently earned the Jim Grant Inspirational Achievement Award for his tireless work across the town – including organising clean-up efforts, campaigning to fix potholes, and supporting a national initiative to help locate missing people.
Ben’s practical action and leadership have had a visible impact on his community, showing how young people are stepping up to tackle local challenges and create positive change.
Roz Savage MP praised Ben’s contributions:
“Ben is a true community champion. His determination to take action – not just to raise concerns but to do something about them – is incredibly inspiring. Ben’s leadership and commitment are a real credit to Malmesbury and to the wider South Cotswolds.”
Ben’s work highlights the important role that young people are playing in strengthening and supporting communities across the region.
