Fairford Teen Leads Inspiring Campaign to Clean Up the South Cotswolds

Young Fairford resident Heather Kent travelled to Westminster last week, where local MP Roz Savage recognised her outstanding contribution to the community with a formal tribute in Parliament.
On Tuesday 22nd April, Heather received an Early Day Motion celebrating her campaign – “A Bag a Day Keeps Litter Away.” Heather launched the initiative during Lent, going out every single day to collect litter and inspiring others to take pride in their local environment. Her thoughtful and practical approach quickly gathered momentum, becoming a brilliant example of community-led environmental action across the South Cotswolds.
Although Lent has passed, Heather continues to collect a bag of litter each week, keeping the spirit of the campaign alive and encouraging others to make small but meaningful contributions to a cleaner, greener community.
Roz Savage MP praised Heather’s leadership and dedication:
“Heather’s commitment is incredibly inspiring. She has shown that consistent, thoughtful action can lead to real change. Her energy and determination are a huge credit to Fairford and the wider South Cotswolds, and I am so proud to recognise her work in Parliament.”
Heather’s story stands as a powerful reminder of how young people are leading the way in protecting and improving their local areas.
